This micro-course introduces the fundamentals of digital image processing using OpenCV in Python. Learners will explore how computers store and manipulate images, starting from simple tasks like loading and displaying an image to more advanced operations such as shape detection. The project is designed as a hands-on tutorial: participants will write Python code to transform images and extract useful information from them. By the end of the course, learners will understand how to handle color images versus grayscale, apply geometric transformations, adjust image brightness/contrast, convert images to binary via thresholding, detect object contours, and create image masks. This practical approach aims to build skills in computer vision, preparing learners for more advanced AI and image analysis projects in a VET context.
